2012 News

December 2012

This be my final bit of news for 2012 - so here we go...

My band - Cosmic Rays - have FINALLY finished recording some tracks. There are some available on Band Camp. At the moment, it's a special limited edition recording. We might tweak these further as we progress towards the finished - *gasp* - album.... Yep, there's more to come!

Next year will start off in a fairly momentous way with my 100th issue! I'll be appearing twice at my local comic shop Infinity Beyond to celebrate that fact. I'll be doing an exclusive evening signing and interview on the Tuesday evening Jan 8th and then a more public appearance on Saturday Jan 12th. See my Facebook page or Infinity Beyond's page for more details. Hope to see anyone who's interested there... should be really nice.

And, finally, two big appearances in the early part of New Year - Angouleme at the end of january and Emerald City in Seattle at the beginning of March. But more news on them nearer the time - either here or on Facebook.

And that's that - Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year everyone... See you in 2013!

October 2012

Just got back from F.A.C.T.S con in belgium. I had a great time... So sorry I didn't announce it properly on my website news page, but it's been really busy lately.

I have a signing to promote the Forbidden Planet exclusive cover to the TWD magazine on November 10th in London. So that should be fun... and manic!

Also, the weekend after is Leeds Thought Bubble. I'm a keynote speaker on the Friday for the Comics Forum part of the festival, which is quite an honour - so I'm really looking forward to that. Hopefully I'll see a lot of fans there, as TB is my favourite comics con in the UK, and I'll be signing and sketching for both days of that weekend. All proceeds from my sketches will go to the TB charity - Banardos.

On a musical note, my band - the re-named Cosmic Rays - are in the studio at the moment, so we hope to have CDs for sale at the con... :-)

September 2012

This just in... I've managed to slot in a Forbidden Planet appearance in November to promote the new TWD magazine.

Here's the link to their website: Forbidden Planet

Finally back to normality.... After the craziness of TWD 100 and the Atlanta set visit, I can finally settle down to getting issues out on time again.

There's a few more cons before the end of the year to attend - thankfully a bit more lo cal than my trans-Atlantic trips - and below is the first of them. It's a new con called N.I.C.E - and to make it even more appealing, my band are playing there too! We've changed the name too - from Mine Power Cosmic - to Cosmic Rays - and we have a Facebook page as well, for all you music lovers out there.

Then in October I head out to Gent in Belgium for the F.A.C.T.S con and finally back to the UK for the great Leeds Thought Bubble in November.

June-July 2012

Thanks for everyone who came to see me at SDCC - it was, well, insane!

Here's a link to one of the many interviews etc I did whilst there. This one came out pretty well, methinks..

That's What He Said: Charlie Adlard

I visit the TWD set the week after next in Atlanta - so I'm looking forward to that. Then, it's time to calm down and do some work!

The next 2 cons after that will be the NICE con in the UK followed by FACTS in Ghent, Belgium. More on those nearer the time...

Stop Press - Here's my poster to the new highly anticipated documentary film "Doc Of The Dead". I'll be signing copies of this poster at the Geekscape booth at SDCC on Friday at 4.30pm

Whoops... I've been SO busy that I forgot to update on the Derry trip and the Infinity Beyond 21st birthday signing+gig. Oh well, I'm sure everyone that came had a great time and I'll try to be a bit more efficient in the future. That said, I thought I'd be extra efficient and not only tell you that I'll be at San Diego Comic Con this year for the whole five days but list my [rather manic - and that's excluding interviews and other commitments] schedule too. Unfortunately, because it's likely to be very busy, it's highly unlikely that I'll be able to do much sketching - especially since TWD #100 is being launched there - but there'll be much signing. And, of course, I will try and get everybody done - plus, it goes without saying, that if you see me out and about there, please feel free to come up and say "hi" and I'll sign/sketch whatever you have. That'll be my only other North American show for this year. I plan on doing two more UK shows further on in the year [N.I.C.E - where my band will do another gig - and, of course, Leeds Thought Bubble]. I also have a trip to the F.A.C.T.S festival in Gent in Belgium scheduled for the Autumn. But, more news on those nearer the time... promise!

Here comes the summer... which is cold and wet so far here in the UK. But at least my convention season is "hotting" up... sorry...

First up is my inaugural trip to Kapow in London on May 19th and 20th - kapowcomicconvention.com - I'm really looking forward to that one, since I heard such good things about last year's event. My signing schedule is listed below - I'm not "officially" on for long, but if you accost me anywhere else at the event I'll gladly sign and sketch for you, no problem.

Sat 19
12-12.45: Image Superstars, Gallery Hall
2-3: Signing, table E
5.30-7.00: Stan Lee Awards, Gallery Hall

Sun 20
10.30-11.30: Desert Island Comics, Room A
11.30-1.30: Signing, table C

Two weeks later, I'll be flying over to Derry, Northern Ireland - June 1st and 2nd. A personal favourite of mine... it's a really good con.

More news about that and my signings and band gig for my local comic shop, Infinity Beyond and, of course, the beast that is San Diego coming up soon.

March 2012

I was just kindly given this action figure by a very generous man named Grant Miller. What talent! He's also trying to raise extra funds to make more cool stuff like this - so, if anyone's interested pop over to Kick Starter and check it out.

Here's a link to a slightly different interview I did with Mark Hay - my art agent over at Splash Page. Enjoy!

Here are some more details to my appearance in Quebec next month - for all you folks traveling to Canada in April!

From April 11th to the 15th, you'll be attending te 25st edition of Quebec's oldest comic event, the Festival de la bande dessinée francophone de Québec. Almost a hundred authors are expected to be present. Mostly from Quebec and french Canada, but also from France, Belgium, Spain and now UK. Amongst them, Juanjo Guarnido, Michel Rabalgiati, Patrick Sobral, Delaf & Dubuc, Yoann and more ! On the program are exhibits, comicImprov, live drawing and a bunch of other activities for comic fans.

I was recently asked to contribute to a cancer charity called "Keep A Breast". It was the most unusual idea I've ever had proposed to me, so I thought I'd share the finished results...

Yep, that's right, I had to paint on a plaster cast of a female torso. The finished results will go on display at the Omotesando Hills inTokyo from May 15th in an exhibition curated by Yasha Young and KAB. The theme of the event is LOVE... which is all you need.

Just got back from the Glasgow Film Festival last weekend. I had a great time. Thanks to everyone concerned for making me feel so welcome. If anyone's interested, here's a link to a very nice, professional video of my event[s]... actually makes me look like I can string together a few sentences - so well done!

January-February 2012

HAPPY 2012!:
Yeah, I know it's nearly February, but this is my first post of the new year, so what are you gonna do about it...? Anyway, it's been a busy last few months work wise - I did a CD single cover for a new British Indie band called Moonrunners and contributed art to the Occupy Wall St charity comic [both of which are below and I was VERY pleased with how they came out] in-between my usual ton of work on TWD.

My next appearance will be in Glasgow at the end of February. I've been invited to the film festival up there which takes place the week of 16-26 of February. My appearance - which takes the form of a Q&A, will be on the Wednesday [22 Feb16:15 to17:45] - see their website for more details. Then I go across town to Forbidden Planet the day after [23rd] and do a signing from 17:00 to 18:00. Hope to see anyone that can make it either of those.

My other appearances coming up will be in Quebec in April, Kapow in May and Derry [N. Ireland] in June. I'll fill everyone in on the details nearer the time on those, and I'm sure there'll be other things which I'll just HAVE to tell you when they occur...

...'Till next time."
